Many of you have reached out regarding Joey's speech last night at the City Council meeting. (You can view it on my Instagram @sadre73) We appreciate your support and know you feel the same about our Lompoc homeless problem. The 9th Circuit ruling makes it very difficult for cities across the country. However, it does allow for alternatives, and that requires savvy leadership. I also have experienced exhaustion from trying to change things and getting nowhere, but it is time to rally again. We need to encourage our city leaders to explore alternatives, stay vigilant, and commit to public safety.
I lied last week. The sun is not coming out, but cozy up and drink a bid dark blend.

Hello Friends,
The wine club season seemed to zoom by faster than ever before. Since October, we have released twelve wines. At the same time, we brought in over 100 tons of fruit and bottled over forty wines. We have added two new employees this year: Heather and Presley. They are incredible women, and I hope you get to know them on a Friday night or a Sunday afternoon. Our daughter, Taylor, finished her second year at Arizona State University. I am so grateful that she is coming home for the summer. I will cherish every moment, knowing someday she will have her own home, and visits won't be months at a time. Our son, Sean, turned 16 and is enjoying the freedom of wheels and burning up gas like it was a $1/gallon. He went to his first prom this weekend, and he and his swim team just set a league record for the four by 50 free relay. June and July will be a downtime in the winery. Caitlin will celebrate her 6th year with Transcendence, and Tina will celebrate her 7th year with us. These fabulous women and some dear friends who have moved on (Will, Jaime, Kelcie, Jennifer, Kim, Melissa, and Shannon) made the Transcendence tasting room into the "local cheers,"; a place where everyone knows your name. Joey and I will celebrate our twentieth wedding anniversary, and I will turn 50. Sadly, we lost a dear friend this year, and our dear friends lost their son. David and Mitch, you are fiercely loved and missed. These moments, along with our family, friends, and wine club family, are why we say, "Life happens over a bottle of wine."
As we take a break from wine club over the summer, please keep the texts, emails, and social media posts coming. We love hearing about the moments you celebrate with a bottle of Transcendence, the delicious meals you cook and share, and the hard times when you need a friend. Thank you for being part of our lives, and cheers to all the sweet moments!

Our tasting room will be closed early (4pm) on Saturday April 29th for a private party. We only do private events for our wine club members, feel free to reach out if you are interested in booking the tasting room, it is a heck of a deal.
Our TGIF wine this week is the 2020 La Pareja from Ballard Canyon. La Pareja means the couple in Spanish. This wine is beautifully balanced but not and equal as most great couples are. The blend is 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache. Let me know if you want to pick up, stash, or ship with your next wine club order. TGIF=$30/bottle.

I hope you all enjoyed that Rosé. It sure has been nice to see the sun and take off a layer or two. This week the TGIF special is the 2020 Providence. The Providence is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, and Syrah. In Italy, this is referred to as a Super Tuscan. Blends are so wonderful; they entice your palate with so many layers. Hello Friends,
I want to share a little story about how we started making Chardonnay. It is hard to believe how many years have passed and how many wines we have made over the years. We have a handful that has remained the same and have turned into Transcendence traditions. The Zotovich Vineyard Chardonnay is one of these traditions.
We have been making the Zotovich Vineyard Chardonnay in the same style from the same block in the vineyard since 2010. Many of you have these past vintages cellared in your collection, and I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy them side by side. I was stubborn at first with Chardonnay because I didn’t really care for it and didn’t want to sell it. Joey, who loves a challenge and probably loves to conquer my stubbornness, set out to change my mind on Chardonnays. Joey and I embarked on a fun recon mission to find the perfect glass of Chardonnay that he could emulate. We bought wines online, from wine shops and visited as many tasting rooms as possible.
We fell in love with the wines of Chablis which are fresh, clean, and wrapped in acidity. These wines pair effortlessly with food and are so refreshing and satisfying on their own. Our favorite producer was Domaine Raveneau, a French producer based in the Chablis wine region of Burgundy.
All of our Chardonnays are fermented in stainless steel, and some stay in stainless while others are transferred to neutral French Oak barrels. The Zotovich Chardonnay is fermented and aged in stainless steel before bottling. There is no malolactic fermentation or any other winemaking intervention, just a crisp and clean representation of what Chardonnay truly tastes like. Joey has endeavored to make these Zotovich Vineyard Chardonnays in the Chablis fashion and nails them every year. If you didn’t get a Zotovich Chardonnay in your wine club this time, or if you are like me and have sworn all Chardonnay off for life, I say give it a try and make sure you take advantage of the next time this wine is on our TGIF deal and enjoy the tradition!
