Fall 2021 Wine Club Letter

Hello Friends,

I want to share the story behind the Silver Linings Syrah.  When we brought this wine in, we were immersed in Covid restrictions. I could barely breathe thinking about losing my business and how deeply sad and depressed my children were. I started making a list (to avoid being overwhelmed with anger) of all the Silver Linings Covid had blessed us with.  It began with family time and not being on the road until 9 pm, driving to Santa Ynez or Santa Barbara for volleyball and water polo practice. As a family, we leaned in.  We watched movies, ate popcorn, made our favorite foods for dinner, stayed up way too late.  Eventually, our body's alarm clocks started allowing us to sleep in.

Gluttonous acts of eating and drinking too much made it imperative to begin moving the body again, and my girlfriends and I started walking every morning together. This time gave us a great outlet to circle the wagon about our kids and how we can support them and each other.
We created a home gym, and the four of us lifted weights together. I was working less, and I made time for naps. I didn't worry about cleaning my house because nobody was coming over. We saved money on gas, grew a garden, and my kids cooked dinner one day a week.  My friendships grew more profound, and I spent time appreciating the life we lost. Our family's favorite outing was taking the dogs to Hendry's Beach in Santa Barbara, grabbing dinner at the Boat House, and watching the sunset.  We enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.

Because of these simple pleasures, my Silver Linings list kept growing.  After a few months, you people, our customers, started coming back to the tasting room, and we were so excited to have a drive-through pick-up party.  I was no longer worried about losing the business. When someone was brave enough to engage in a hug, it felt full of emotion and longing, like a hug should feel. We were and continue to be overwhelmed with your support.

Even though our country is more polarized than ever, I hope we remember that collectively the entire planet went through Covid. Nobody was spared, and we are all bonded by a shared experience with devastating lows and hopefully silver linings that last a lifetime. I choose to focus on loving stronger, communicating deeper, and being steadfast in faith that we will Transcend. I hope you enjoy the Silver Linings Syrah, and while you drink it, you reflect on your own Silvers Linings and share them with the people you love.

Thank you, Cindy Leach, for your thoughtful name of this wine. Thank you ALL for your love of wine and your support of Transcendence,
